From Egypt to Ann Arbor

From around the world and back. During a cold snowy January, Wael A. Sabour, trekked from Egypt, where he is originally from and still lives and works, to our great state of Michigan for a visit to the University of Michigan School of Art and Design in 2008.  While in Ann Arbor, Sabour was able to exhibit some of his works in a gallery on State Street and in classrooms, where he also provided demonstrations to art school students on collagraph, a particular type of printmaking, in which materials are used to add texture to the plate, such as cardboard, paper or plastic and then they function together as a 3-dimensional plate.

  1. It has been a great experience for me to visit umich , school of art & design back in 2008. The visit was initiated by a generous invitation from my colleague and friend Prof. Endi Poskovic how hosted me in his beautiful art filed house. During that visit I've had the chance to do Printmaking (Collagraph) demos, slide presentations of my work in addition to gallery visit to Meeting the Other show at Work gallery. I also had the privilege to do studio visits for some of the grad students . If i want to describe my experience in umich ,i'd say it has been rich , engaging, inspiring emotionally charged and intellectuality motivating experience .Finally i want to re-thank prof. Endi and all his wonderful students for that extraordinary experience .
